About Me
I’m a senior IT engineer hailing from Derbyshire, specialising in networks and wireless tech. I’m here to share insights and experiences that make IT a little less painful for people and for businesses.
My Career
I began as an IT hardware apprentice over a decade ago, progressing through 1st and 2nd line roles and hands-on technical support. Today, I’m a 3rd Line Engineer specialising in wired and wireless networks.
Technical Insights
I’m passionate about building IT systems that are fast, reliable, and built to scale. From structured cabling to private cloud environments, I focus on solutions that are practical, future-ready, and properly documented.
Goals
My end goal is to move into a network architect role. I really enjoy working with networks, how they work, what they can do, and what we can build with them. Without networks, the way we live and work would be completely different.
Personal Side
I’m from Derbyshire, North East Derbyshire to be precise, and proud to be from “coal country.” I wear that on my sleeve and chest. Outside of IT, I’ve got a love for languages. I speak Russian badly after five years of trying, and Greek even worse, but I’ll still argue that English is probably my worst. I’ve been lucky enough to travel and see most corners of Europe, both the ugly and the pretty, and a bit further afield too.
